We provide EMDR therapy when appropriate for trauma and other mental health needs

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach that helps organize negative and positive feelings, emotions, and thoughts. EMDR therapy helps break through the mental blocks and disturbing memories that keep us from living an emotionally healthy life.

EMDR was initially developed to help individuals struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but has been found to benefit individuals diagnosed with depression, anxiety, grief, and more. The primary goal of EMDR aims to reduce emotional distress, and update memories and experiences to a healthier present perspective.

EMDR has gained recognition as an effective mental health therapeutic approach benefiting individuals seeking healing and resilience.

HOLISTIC APPROACH

Recognizing that mental health is interconnected with various aspects of life, Pathways Counseling adopts a holistic approach. This involves not only addressing immediate mental health concerns, but also emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and even environmental factors that contribute to mental well-being.

A holistic approach creates a personalized and effective therapeutic experience, while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. This involves cultivating a culture of empathy, understanding, and respect for diversity.

Clients, regardless of background or circumstances, are welcomed and should feel understood. Promoting a sense of safety in the therapeutic relationship is essential at Pathways Counseling.

CAREGIVER SUPPORT

Birthed from having been a primary caregiver myself, having licensed foster homes, and matched children available for adoption with forever families, Pathways Counseling provides tailored support and education, and promotes a fulfilling life for caregivers.

Acknowledging and supporting caregivers reflects an understanding of the critical role they play in the well-being of others. Caregivers face diverse circumstances, such as caring for older adults, individuals with health conditions, children in foster care, or those with special needs. They have the added stress of ensuring the safety and needs of the one they care for. Tasks of caregiving can be daunting, and often leads to feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.

If this is you, know you have a safe place to share when you are working with me at Pathways Counseling. I also provide virtual appointments through a secure HIPAA compliant domain for those who would benefit from counseling but do not have the time to leave the home for one more appointment.
